Recently Janet Yellen made waves with an op-ed where she suggested that government checks could be negatively impacted if Congress failed to raise the debt ceiling. Yellen wrote, “Nearly 50 million seniors could stop receiving Social Security checks for a time.” A bill has been cleared by The House of Representatives to fund the government temporarily and have the debt limit suspended. But that legislation may not be passed in the Senate. On October 1, the government may shut down if the lawmakers don’t reach an agreement, and this, in turn, could delay how quickly money reaches people. Watch the video.
